Founded over 50 years ago by Bernard Rapoport, American Income Life Insurance has become a leader in providing supplemental life insurance to businesses, labor unions, and other associations. A.M. Best, a leader in insurance company rating has consistently rated American Income Life with an A+ and gives a 6/10 for financial security which is about average. American Income operates not only in the United States but also in Canada and New Zealand.
Policies / Plans

American Income offers both term and whole life insurance with additional packages available in case of specific situations. Term Life Insurance is generally given in multiples of a 10 year span (10, 20, or 30 years). Term Life offers no cash accumulation and can be renewed automatically with higher premiums or canceled and a new plan can be established.
Whole Life Insurance is a little more popular among policyholders because it guarantees payment to a family if a death occurs. Whole Life polices do accumulate cash value but do not accumulate cash value as much as other companies Whole Life polices do.
American Income offers additional packages if specific events occur. For example, if a policy holder is diagnosed with cancer, you can get cancer protection and the insurance company will take care of the payments associated with treatment. Another example is a critical illness feature. If a policyholder is diagnosed with a critical illness a portion of the life insurance policy will be paid in a one time cash payment to deal with treatment and/or anything else needed to take care of the loved one. Other features include: Accident Policies, Terminal Illness Riders, and Hospital Indemnities. All of the features listed are optional and can be added for a small increase on your premium.
Pricing / Rates

When receiving a quote from American Income, the prices were very average. A quote of $260 was offered for term life insurance and a quote of $290 was offered for whole life insurance. With additional features added the premium only went up $20-30 a month. That is also below average to average when compared to other companies which offer supplemental coverage.
Getting A Quote

Getting an online quote from American Income Life took a little longer then other companies. Some of the questions asked seemed to be worded in a strange manner and when asked about occupation the list seemed broad. It may be better to contact American Income Life via their toll-free telephone line because the online version seems a little primitive.
Customer Service

Customer Service was spot on with exactly what was needed. A few in depth questions were asked and the agent immediately responded with thorough answers that were simple enough to understand. There was no confusion when the conversation was over and the service was above satisfactory. Unlike other companies, American Income Life's customer service agents know exactly what they are doing.
Summary

American Income is primarily focused on offering life and supplemental insurance to big labor unions and organizations but individuals can still receive quotes and policies. Although it may be best to find an insurance provider that specializes in plans for individuals because you then get exactly what you need. The claims service that American Income offers is very simple and easy to fill out. Also a fast response is offered after the claim is submitted so there is no waiting around long periods of time to receive a response. American Income is not anything extraordinary but it's a solid pick for a life insurance provider.
