Founded by William L. Moody Jr. , American National Life has been providing life insurance since 1905. Although they do not offer life insurance directly through their company, they use a variety of affiliated companies to provide people with a multitude of insurance products to choose. Both S&P and A.M. Best have given American National Life top ratings in financial security.
Policies / Plans 
There is not much information available about the types of insurance covered but American National Life does provide by term and permanent life insurance. The term policies last 10, 15, or 20 years in most cases. Permanent Life Insurance does accumulate a cash value in most cases but does not always.
Pricing / Rates
The premiums quoted by American National Insurance were extremely high. A term insurance policy would've cost $390 and a permanent policy was quoted at $497. These are much higher then most of the other companies reviewed.
Getting A Quote
To receive a quote, you actually have to choose an affiliated company; you cannot just get a quote from American National. This seems a little strange, and is much more of a hassle.
Customer Service
While the customer service reps are very skilled and know what they are talking about, it's hard to actually reach them. They can answer your questions if you have any but wait times can be very long.
Summary
American National Life seems to be stuck in the 20th century. They desperately need to update their website to enable instant quotes, they need to provide more information on their products, and there customer service needs an overhaul. They do provide a lot of coverage in terms of money, but the premiums can be absurd. American National Life is definitely not a top 10 or top 25 in terms of insurance providers. American National Life insurance should really just be considered a last choice until they revamp their system.
