Overview

Since 1859, Axa Equitable Insurance has been providing customers with the protection they need from whatever life throws at them. Axa works through a few individual companies to provide both life insurance and retirement services.
Axa remains one of the most stable and long-lasting insurance providers. As of June 30th,2010, Axa Equitable maintained £1.089 Trillion in assets. That is about $1.2 Trillion USD. Therefore you know your investments in Axa are secure.

Policies / Plans

Axa Equitable maintains five different life insurance plans. The simplest plan is term life insurance. The term lasts 10 or 20 years and can be renewed. No cash value is accumulated.

There are four whole life insurance policies: Universal Life Insurance, Indexed Universal Life Insurance, Variable Universal Life insurance, and Whole Life Insurance. The main difference between these policies is the cash accumulation value. Variable Life Insurance accumulates a large cash balance over time because the premiums are invested in various funds. Whole Life Insurance provides a minimal cash value and Universal Life and Indexed Universal Life are in between.

Pricing / Rates

The pricing for policies from Axa is about average. The quote we requested from Axa took a little longer to get but eventually offered us a $309 premium payment. The features included in the plan were not very unique and was not worth the premium price. The cash value was not mentioned but is one feature that could make the policy worth the extra cost.

Getting A Quote

Like other companies, receiving a quote is extremely easy from Axa. The simple way is to request a quote online. It only takes a few minutes and the form was painless to fill out. You can also call one of Axa's toll free numbers to request a quote.

Customer Service

Axa's customer service was also about average. The customer service rep did solve the problem when prompted but did not portray much enthusiasm in her job. The feelings she put out were of boredom, dissatisfaction, and tiredness. It was not a conversation you would want to have more then once.

Axa is an okay alternative to the major life insurance providers. There is nothing really that jumps out at you as to why you must have Axa as your life insurance provider. If you are shopping around, Axa is worth looking into just to see what your quote would be. However, Axa is definitely not a top 5 provider of life insurance. If you find a decent provider with mostly everything you want, skip of Axa and stick with that provider.
