EquiTrust Life Insurance Review

How could you summarize what Equitrust Life Insurance provides? The best way is to say Equitrust provides every financial option for your future.

The Good

In Service for over 60 Years • Provides a Variety of Insurance/Investment Opportunities

The Bad

Website is Extremely Messy • Website Provides Little Information on Equitrust

Overview

Founded over 60 years ago, Equitrust Life Insurance Company has provided a variety of life insurance and investment products to thousands of Americans each year. Equitrust currently operates in Des Moines, Iowa and employs around 1,000 people and offers service to the following states: Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Policies / Plans

The main problem with Equitrust is that you cannot really locate the plans they offer on their website. However, it was found that Equitrust offers term life insurance and whole life insurance. There is not much information available about either plans other then term life insurance offers a policy in 10, 20 or 30 year term and whole life insurance offers a small cash accumulation each year. There is not much else we can share with you about Equitrust's life insurance plans.

Pricing / Rates

It was long and hard to receive a quote from Equitrust. The premium were we told we would have to pay was $319 for a very simple policy. This was not very appealing especially because the terms of the policy were very vague. As soon as we received the quote, we were confused as to what the exact policy was and the agent wasn't very helpful.

Getting A Quote

Receiving a quote from Equitrust was looking pulling teeth. We could not locate an instant quote from their website. The only way we could finally get a quote was through a very long and tedious conversation on the phone with an uninterested agent. The questions seemed extremely invasive and there were many other companies with much better systems to receive a quote. Receiving a life insurance quote from Equitrust almost seems pointless.

Customer Service

Customer service from Equitrust was poor at best. Unlike other agents at popular insurance companies, the agent we spoke to seemed very disinterested in the conversation. This was very surprising because it was said to the agent that I was not already a customer. You would expect a representative to be very polite and alert to a potential new client. Not only was the agent lackadaisical but also was very vague and provided little actual support. It almost seemed as if the agent was doing five other things and had put the phone call in the bottom of her priority.

Equitrust, step your game up. Your website is so outdated and immediately upon entering the website, most customers will be confused. There are plenty of other life insurance providers that provide more information on their products and have customer service agents who will actually help you and offer top-notch support. It's apparent that Equitrust is mainly focused on investment and other financial products, not life insurance. If you are shopping around for life insurance and come across Equitrust it is probably best to just move along.
