SBI Life Insurance offers a ton of different insurance, savings and financial planning products. Individuals looking for term insurance or are interested in securing their financial futures via investment vehicles will find the company’s portfolio of products potentially beneficial.

The Good

Lots of Great Saving and Investment Products

The Bad

The Company is a Bit Paltry on Their Individual Insurance Plans • There Are So Many Different Products That Narrowing Ones Choices Can be Difficult • Products Are Not Explained in an Easy to Read or Understand Manner • Unorthodox Choice of Names for Products • SBI Insurance Only Offers Term Insurance and Not Whole Life or Permanent Options

Policies / Plans

While SBI Insurance has a pretty extensive portfolio of products, not many of them are insurance policies. They only offer three insurance policies, all of them Term. They include SBI Life SmartShield, SBI Life Saral Shield and SBI Life Swadham. As mentioned above, each of these plans are Term. The company doesn’t provide any Whole or Permanent life insurance options such as Variable, Universal or Variable Universal. The lack of option in this area is a not a high point for the company. However, what they lack for in life insurance options, they make up for in other areas. The company has a ton of Unit Linked Plans. They also have a number of child - savings plan, pension, group and health plans.

Pricing / Rates

The prices are decent at SBI Insurance. The policies aren’t dirt cheap. They are more expensive then some of the bigger, wholesale companies but their prices aren’t exorbitant. Because they offer only Term plans, their prices are pretty decent.

Getting A Quote

In order to receive a quote from SBI Insurance, individuals will have to contact the company. They can do so by calling and speaking with an agent on the phone or emailing customer service. Filling out the company’s online form and requesting a visit from an insurance advisor is also an option. Individuals that would like to sit down and speak to someone might find the latter to be a good option. Those persons that aren’t quite ready to do meet with someone may want to shoot the company an email or give them a call. How a person decides to go about getting a quote depend on where they are in the buying process and their level of comfort. Some people will be ready to go, full-steam ahead, while others will only be at the beginning stages of the purchasing process.

Customer Service

SBI Insurance provides very good customer service. They work hard to be responsive and meet the needs of callers and customers. They will answer all questions and if necessary, will transfer callers to the right department. SBI offers the same forms of contact that most other insurers do that are online. They can be contacted by telephone and also email. Those with urgent needs and/or questions will probably want to give them a call. Individuals who needs aren’t as urgent, may want to shoot them an email. The response will be prompt but the communication obviously won’t be as fast as it would be via telephone.

SBI Insurance is a decent option for those with life insurance needs. It is however, a better one for those looking for savings and/or investment vehicles. The company has a lot of products. However, they can be a bit difficult to decipher. Speaking with an agent may be a person who is interested in the company’s products’ best bet. A customer support rep or agent should be able to explain each offering in detail and with clarity.
